This website does not support communism, any movements, associations or political parties, nor does it glorify war and killing. Any communist symbols appearing on the site are solely part of period photographs.
I cannot rule out that some of the information on these pages — technical details, production numbers and so on — may not be entirely accurate. I have tried to minimise inaccuracies by cross-referencing data from multiple sources, though this was not always possible. Thank you for your understanding. It should also be noted that the site does not offer anything close to a complete overview of everything that ever rolled across the battlefields of the Second World War bearing a red star on its armour.
History of the Site
Tankist was launched on 1 May 2007 as a sister project to the Panzernet website. Both Tankist and Panzernet run under the same address, dividing the site into a German and a Soviet section.
In 2026 Tankist received a new visual design and a new navigation structure. The aim was to align its appearance with the German section and, at the same time, to finally optimise it for mobile devices. If you would like to see what the site looked like before 2026, a small preview of the old design can be found HERE and HERE.
The latest redesign was a fairly demanding undertaking, so we decided not to migrate the photo gallery for the time being. If we manage to do so, we will work through it gradually and bring it back online.
A full English version of the website was launched in May 2026. The language "switcher" is located in the top right corner of the screen.
